The building team lead by Tristan made for a stress free and fun build project. There was never a terse word and timings were always on point. And if a delay of some aspect of the project was anticipated we were given plenty of warning. After the extremely stressful process of dealing with insurance companies following the Christchurch earthquakes, working with Jarrod and the team at Simplexity was a real breath of fresh air. What could have been an arduous process of designing and building our new home was made into an enjoyable journey due to their approach.

Having a dedicated foreman on site throughout the build process meant we always had a known point of contact to ask any questions and get details of the progress. Jarrod’s approach of breaking up the decision-making process when it came to settling on the finer details of the build to be done only as each of the decisions had to be made (rather than all up front) made what could be a very difficult process much easier. I first met Jarrod Southon during what was arguably the most challenging time of the Christchurch Earthquake Rebuild. During this period, my role involved auditing a range of severely damaged hillside properties on behalf of affected homeowners. At the same time, Jarrod had just returned to hands-on building after spending two years contracted to Vero, where he provided professional building assessment services. Once the homeowners’ claims had been settled, I recommended that several clients engage Jarrod for the repair or rebuild of their homes. Jarrod consistently delivered outstanding service to both my company and each individual client. His expertise in building, attention to detail, and unique construction flair greatly benefited those he worked with.

Impressed by Jarrod’s exceptional building acumen, my wife and I chose Jarrod and his team to repair our own substantial home, which had been significantly—though mostly superficially—damaged. The home was only three years old at the time of the 2011 earthquakes, and we decided to undertake a significant facelift alongside the necessary repairs. I’m happy to recommend Jarrod Southon from Simplexity Builders, who completed the reinstatement of our beautifully loved home high on the Mount Pleasant Hills after an electrical fire New Year’s Eve 2019 burnt the majority of it, our home was constructed in 2000’s of timber and concrete block with a concrete floor. The contract commenced Late October 2020 after a long deliberation with our insurance company with a predicted completion date of October 2021 but due to COVID, with staff lockdowns and supply or lack of supply of materials, it was actually completed at the end of March 2022.

Coming highly recommended from a trusted source who helped us with our broken homes during the Christchurch earthquakes, we felt 100% heard and comfortable with our choice of builders. As you can imagine it was a very stressful, and a trying time for our family and although it would have been lovely if we could have moved in sooner, Simplexity did not cut corners and executed all of our possibly difficult requests on a timely and quality basis. Our biggest request and possibly the hardest part of the rebuild was that we wanted everything to look the same as it did prior to the fire (old-fashioned) so sourcing some specific items was a logistical nightmare, however Alana their assistant was an angel, never saying anything was a problem.

The team’s problem-solving skills were second to none, and the builders themselves were always very tidy, friendly, and helpful. We had a fixed-price contract and we truly appreciate how difficult this was in Covid times. The communication between the building company and ourselves was very efficient and prompt with weekly/fortnightly on-site meetings, our workbook to organise ideas and Builder Trend to keep up with daily happenings.

I would highly recommend Jarrod and Simplexity Builders to anyone, I feel our undertaking was a bit of a curveball for Simplexity and we could not be more happy with the outcome for our beautiful Old/New home, and the support during the difficult and emotional process.

Jarrod and his great team at Simplexity Builders rebuilt our earthquake damaged home on the hill in Redcliffs. The site was geotechnically complex with difficult access, and the project constrained to a tight budget and build specifications.

Jarrod worked as a team with our architect to come up with a design that had unique architectural flare and used a mix of materials that ticked all the boxes and delivered us a completely different home within the same foot print as our previous house, but with much better use of space for a growing family and sheltered outdoor living spaces.

The communication between ourselves, Jarrod and the build foreman was excellent, and the expected challenges along the way were delt with efficiently and effectively.

The tradies used by Simplexity worked to a high standard and turned up when they were meant to. Of particular mention was the joinery company used by Simplexity who worked with us to design a beautiful kitchen and several pieces of bespoke fitted joinery.

The finishing of the build was to a high standard and came within our specified budget. There were some variations of our choice along the way and these were handled transparently and fairly.

The build site was always clean and tidy with a focus on safety for all on site.

They also worked with our landscape designer who had provided some basic concept sketches to execute all our hard landscaping.

We are extremely happy with our new home, and the relationship formed with Jarrod and the Simplexity Team, and would definitely use them again and highly recommend them to others.

The directors of the Christchurch Veterinary Afterhours engaged Simplexity Builders to fit out the new afterhours clinic from an existing warehouse.

Jarrod and our architect worked together from start to finish to make sure we had the design we wanted at an acceptable cost.

Fitting out a veterinary hospital is highly specialized and complex, and varies quite significantly from a normal commercial building fit out. Simplexity enjoyed the challenge of a project that was outside  the norm, the build was stress free and was completed in an acceptable timeframe and on budget. Variations were handled transparently and fairly.

Jarrod and his team are professional, build to a high standard and are extremely organized. 

They only use quality tradesmen who they’ve generally had a longstanding relationship with. The tradies were generally punctual and their workmanship was to a high standard.

I would highly recommend using Simplexity Builders.

Upon viewing a Simplexity Builders home and talking about project opportunities with Jarrod, it was clear to me that the quality and professionalism was outstanding.

I laid out the budget I had to work with and the goals I wanted to achieve. Jarrod helped me find a suitable site and worked with the architect to design the plans to garner the biggest return for my investment. Throughout this process, he provided ample knowledge and recommendations from council consenting to carpet selections.

Kia Ora, a big shout out to Jarrod and his team at Simplexity Builders for a job superbly done at our residence in Westport following the 21 floods.

On time and on budget a complete overhaul of the entire internal house including a rebuild and design of kitchen, ensuites and wardrobes.There choice of add on contractors ( painters etc) were also top notch.

When our home was flooded in July 2021, it was absolutely devastating. We had a metre of water through the house and lost so much. We contacted our insurance company and requested to use Simplexity Builders from Christchurch, as we knew there was no way our home would be repaired within 12 months given the number of flooded houses in Westport at the time.

Jarrod came to assess the damage and negotiated the payout directly with State Insurance. This was an enormous help and took so much pressure off us, allowing us to focus on sorting out our contents and personal belongings.

Jarrod and his team were fantastic to deal with. They kept us informed throughout the process and had us back in our home within 10 months of the flood. We made a few changes along the way, which were never an issue, and they also offered helpful suggestions on how we could improve certain aspects of the rebuild.

They completed eight repairs in Westport, and everyone we’ve spoken to has had positive feedback about Simplexity Builders. We would highly recommend them to anyone needing insurance repair work done.
